Accounting for business owners. From someone who’s been one.
Monthly accounting, tax support and business advisory services for small-business owners in Kansas City.
After 7 years of public accounting and 28 years running a manufacturing business, I understand that business owners need more than financial statements. They need someone who understands what the numbers mean, and can help them make decisions.

More than bookkeeping
More than an accountant. A business owner’s perspective.
Most business owners don’t need another report sitting on their desk. They need someone who can look at the numbers and help answer questions like these. That’s where accounting becomes more than bookkeeping.
- “Can I afford this?”
- “Why is my cash flow so tight when we’re profitable?”
- “Am I paying myself appropriately?”
- “Should I hire someone, or wait?”
- “Where should the business be financially six months from now?”
- “What should I be thinking about before year-end?”

Small by design
A different kind of accounting relationship.
I work directly with my clients and provide the personal attention business owners lose as accounting firms grow. You will always meet and speak directly with me.
You work with me
Not a rotating group of staff members.
I get to know your business
Not just your general ledger.
I help you understand the numbers
Not simply produce financial statements.
I bring an owner’s perspective
I’ve spent decades making the same kinds of decisions you make.

From owner to advisor
I’ve been on your side of the desk.
For 28 years, I ran a manufacturing business, eventually as its owner. I know what it’s like to meet payroll, to worry about cash flow, to make a major investment and wonder whether it’s the right time.
Eventually, I sold the business. Now I’m bringing that experience to a smaller group of business owners.
Getting started
What happens when you call
You call Bob
I answer my own phone. If I miss you, leave a message with your name and number and I’ll call you back.
We talk for 20 minutes or so
No charge and no pitch. Tell me about your business and what’s on your mind. I’ll ask a few questions, and we’ll both get a sense of whether I can help.
If it’s a fit, we put it in writing
I’ll send a simple engagement letter that spells out what I’ll do and what it costs. If it’s not a fit, I’ll tell you, and point you somewhere better if I can.
