About R Gregory CPA
I’ve been on your side of the desk.
I’m Bob Gregory. Seven years in public accounting. Five as a controller. Then 28 years running a manufacturing business, which I eventually owned and sold. That combination shapes the way I work with clients today.

My path
7 years
Public accounting
I started at Baird, Kurtz & Dobson, now part of Forvis Mazars, building a foundation in accounting, tax, auditing and business advisory work.
5 years
Controller, manufacturing company
Hands-on financial management: reporting, budgeting, and seeing how the numbers connect to day-to-day operations.
28 years
Running a manufacturing business
I managed and operated a manufacturing business and ultimately became its owner. The job went well beyond finance: strategic planning, operations, people, and the daily decisions involved in building and running a company. Then I sold it, which is one of the most significant financial and strategic decisions an owner can face.
Today
R Gregory CPA
A small, intentionally limited practice serving business owners in Kansas City.
Why I started R Gregory CPA
I know what it’s like to meet payroll.
To worry about cash flow.
To make a major investment and wonder whether it’s the right time.
To look at a financial statement and ask, “So what does this mean for my business?”
That’s the combination I bring: public accounting expertise, financial management, and nearly three decades of running a business myself. I understand the challenges owners face because I’ve faced them.
After selling the business, I wanted to keep doing work I enjoy: working with business owners and helping them make sense of their numbers. I’m intentionally small so I can work directly with my clients and provide the kind of personal attention that becomes harder to find as firms grow.
Small by design.
Personal by choice.
That means fewer clients, direct access to me, and the time to understand your business, not just your general ledger.
